What Is Teeth-in-a-Day?

Teeth-in-a-day, or full-arch restoration, is an oral surgery procedure that provides you with a brand new, fixed smile in one day. Multiple dental implants are used to support a fixed denture in the upper and/or lower arches and after just one surgical appointment, you will leave our office with a healthy new smile.

Having all of your teeth replaced in one visit with an implant-supported denture eliminates the need to undergo multiple surgeries for a full mouth of individual implants. Even if you have experienced jaw bone loss, you can still achieve a new smile with Teeth-in-a-Day because it does not require bone grafting prior to implant placement.

Benefits of Teeth-in-a-Day

  • Only one surgical procedure is necessary.
  • Achieve a brand new smile in just one day.
  • Restore your ability to eat and speak comfortably.
  • Receive dental implants without bone grafts.
  • Feel confident about your teeth again.
  • No special maintenance is needed beyond regular brushing and flossing.

Teeth-in-a-Day or Dentures?

By choosing to restore your smile with implant-supported dentures, you can enjoy having a beautiful smile that functions properly and benefits your oral health. Dental implants fuse to the jaw bone and provide stimulation that keeps the bone healthy, just like natural teeth roots. This stimulation preserves facial structure and prevents facial sagging that can occur with removable dentures.

Unlike removable dentures which must be taken out during meals, implant-supported dentures will remain in your mouth at all times. You can brush, floss, and care for your fixed denture just like natural teeth. After the dental implants heal, they will feel natural in your mouth and because they fuse to the jaw, you can enjoy your favorite food without worrying about painful appliances or removable parts.

Choosing implant-supported dentures eliminates the inconveniences of traditional dentures and provides you with a healthy, stunning smile you can feel proud of. If you currently wear dentures or want to explore your tooth replacement options, contact Siouxland Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery today. Our oral surgeons will explain all of your options and create a custom treatment plan based on your oral health, restoration goals, and budget.

The Teeth-in-a-Day Procedure

At the consultation, your oral surgeon will take 3D scans of your mouth and design a custom plan for your procedure. We offer many types of anesthesia and will help you choose the right option for your needs. Many patients undergo IV sedation or local anesthesia for Teeth-in-a-Day surgery.

During the procedure, your oral surgeon will extract any remaining teeth in the dental arch and insert the dental implants. For All-on-4® treatment, only four dental implants are required. In some cases, more than four implants are needed to support the prosthesis. Your surgeon will determine the number of implants you need beforehand.

We will attach a temporary denture to the implants and you will leave our office with a new arch of fixed teeth. You can expect to wear this temporary prosthesis for several months as the implants fuse to the jaw bone. Your dentist will create your final prosthesis and attach it to the implants after they have fully healed.

Am I a Candidate for Teeth-in-a-Day?

Anyone who has lost most or all of their teeth likely qualifies for Teeth-in-a-Day. The ideal candidate is someone who is fully edentulous (missing all of their teeth), is soon-to-be edentulous, or who already wears dentures and desires a healthier, more comfortable alternative. Because only one surgical appointment is necessary, Teeth-in-a-Day costs less than undergoing treatment for a full mouth of dental implants, making it a more affordable option for more patients.

To see if you qualify for Teeth-in-a-Day, contact our office in Sioux Falls, SD, for a consultation with one of our oral health experts. Dr. Miller or Dr. George will evaluate your oral health, discuss your treatment options, and create an individualized plan for your smile restoration needs.
