Your First Oral Surgery Visit

First visits at Siouxland Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery usually consist of an oral exam and a consultation, during which you will have a chance to discuss your diagnosis and treatment options with your oral surgeon. In some cases, your procedure can be performed the same day as your consultation, but typically, this is only the case for simpler procedures.

To ensure that your first appointment goes as smoothly as possible, please bring the following information with you to your initial consultation:

  • A list of the medications you are currently taking
  • Your medical history
  • Your medical and/or dental insurance information (if applicable)
  • Your referral form and any X-rays you were given

Your referring dentist or doctor may have sent your referral form and X-rays to us ahead of time. If you are unsure whether or not you need to bring a referral form, contact your referring provider.

Please note: All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at every oral surgery visit, including the initial consultation appointment.

Thank you for taking the time to review this information, and we look forward to meeting you! Please feel free to contact the office where your appointment is scheduled if you have any additional questions about your initial appointment.
