Appointments
Siouxland Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Associates accepts patients on referral from dentists and physicians. When your dentist or physician refers you to Siouxland Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Associates, you may make an appointment yourself or your dentist's or physicians' office may make an appointment for you. Your appointment will be made with the surgeon to whom you were referred, to the surgeon of your choice, or at the first available appointment that meets your schedule.

We will make every effort to maintain our office schedule and see you at your appointment time. We ask for your understanding that emergencies and unforeseen complications do occur and may cause minor delays in our schedule. Also, we would ask you to keep in mind that we have multiple doctors working in the office and patients being seen for a variety of reasons other than surgery. Therefore, it is possible for patients arriving after you to be seen first depending on the patient, doctor and treatment required. You will not lose your place. If, however, you have not been seen within 15 minutes of your appointment time, please return to the reception counter.

Late Arrival For Appointments
Every patient wants to be seen on time for their appointment, and we will make every effort to maintain our schedule and see every patient promptly at their appointment time. In order to avoid penalizing other patients, if you are late for your appointment, or we cannot complete the required administrative preparation for your appointment without delaying other patients, it may be necessary to reappoint you for another time.

Canceling/Rescheduling Appointments
If for some reason it becomes necessary for you to change your appointment, please give us at least two working days advanced notice. Patients that cancel or reschedule more than one appointment may be required to pay a rescheduling fee prior to obtaining another appointment. The scheduling fee will be credited to the patient's account once the appointment has been completed. If a patient misses, cancels, or reschedules the subsequent appointment, the scheduling fee will be forfeited.

Missed Appointments
Patients that miss their appointments will be required to pay a scheduling fee in order to reschedule. The scheduling fee will be credited to the patient's account once the appointment has been completed. If a patient misses, cancels, or reschedules the rescheduled appointment, the scheduling fee will be forfeited.

Children Accompanying Patients
While we welcome children as patients, you should not bring non-patient children to the office. We recommend and encourage you to make arrangements to have your child or children cared for at home or in a day care facility. We ask and recommend this as a consideration to other patients and because your non-patient child or children will be happier and more comfortable somewhere other than in our waiting room.

Escorts
All surgical patients planning to undergo sedation or a general anesthetic must have an escort accompany them to their appointment. The escort must be present before surgery begins and remain in the office until the patient is discharged. The escort is the individual that will provide transportation for the patient after surgery. An escort is not required for patients planning surgery under local anesthesia.

The time required to complete appointments is upredictable. The length of a consultation visit varies depending on the nature of the evaluation and the length of a surgical appointment varies depending on the surgical procedure to be completed and the unpredictable length of time required for recovery from the surgical procedure and anesthetic.
